Recently I was privileged (as long as I brought my camera) to attend a breakfast meet and greet with Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker and a few of the Red’s players. The get together, part of a local radio promotion with the ESPN Network was attended by local advertisers and VIP’s. Among the guests was NFL legend Paul Flatley who I had the honor of introducing to Red’s manager Dusty Baker.

During Flatley’s professional career, he played for the Minnesota Vikings (1963-1967 and the Atlanta Falcons(1968-1970). A fourth round draft pick by the Vikings in 1963, Flatley was selected as the UPI NFL-NFC rookie of the year and played in the 1966 Pro Bowl. He is a member of the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.

“Dusty” Baker’s career includes 19 years as an outfielder with the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Baker managed the San Francisco Giants, leading them to 2002 pennant, and the Chicago Cubs before taking his current job with the Red’s.

These gentlemen had a lot to talk about, unfortunately I had to intervene cutting their time together shorter than they would have liked. I had the camera and there were many other VIP’s that wanted pictures.

Making your wedding day special requires a lot of planning. Toby, a retired sled dog, is just one of several pets that have visited our studio recently in response to our FREE photo session for adopted pets.

The program I started with a local Help The Animals Shelter has brought a lot of attention to our studio. Rewarding people with a free photo session of the newly adopted pets has proved to be one of the better promotions we have tried in several years. Not only are people taking advantage of the free session, people have become aware that we photographs more than weddings and people.

Our main goal, however, is to do our part to help these homeless animals find a caring and loving home.

Rescue Pets

I recently started offering a FREE photo session and 1 8×10 to anyone that rescues a pet from the Richmond, In “Help the Animals”

The response has been good since we started this three weeks ago. The studio has received several plugs on the local radio station which has resulted in a number inquiries about our studio.

The program is our way of saying thanks to those families that adopt a new pet, plus it give us the opportunity to introduce our other services to new clients.

Jumping the Broom Stick

A rainy, and chilly day could not stop this great couple from making the best of it. Aisha and Leonard traveled from North Carolina to Indianapolis to share their special day with family and friends . Although some things got a little out of whack, the day came together as the couple “Jumped the Broom stick ” marking the beginning of their new lives together.

Ebony and Taariq

Taariq and Ebony were married on August 28 in Sharonville OH. The time lines for the day got a little off base but everyone worked together to make things happen, it turned out to be a great day.

Erin and Jacobs Wedding

The 90 degree heat didn’t slow Erin and Jacob down. The couple had some problems deciding on a location for their wedding but finally found a beautiful place in Camden Ohio. The Woodland Trails Boy Scout Camp might not sound like the perfect site for an outdoor wedding, but it turns out that it is a very beautiful spot with several options for a ceremony and reception. Erin and Jacob settled on a small outdoors Chapel facing a lake and surrounded by woods.

Size Matters

We have all heard the saying “size doesn’t matter”, when it comes to planning your wedding, size really does matter.
The size of your wedding party, church, reception hall and even the size of the cake will all play an important part of your day, and your budget. The number of guests you plan to invite will dictate the size of venues needed for the ceremony and reception. The size or number of people in the wedding party needs careful consideration. You want your wedding party to fit comfortably in the area where the ceremony takes place. I have, on more than one occasion, seen wedding parties so large, at the alter, they were jammed together a in a very unpleasing manner, and it was obvious that they were uncomfortable. The larger the group the harder it is to keep everyone together and focused on the event. From a Photographers point of view, the number of people in the wedding party plays an important part in the out come of the photos. A professional photographer will be able to handle anything you throw at them, but smaller groups, or ones that fit into the space allotted, makes it easier and faster to work with, and results in better photographs.
In the early stages of planning, take a tape measure to the church or venue where the ceremony will take place. Measure the space were the wedding party will be standing. Remember that for every two people you will need at least 3 ½ to 4 feet of space. Take into account railings and the distance from the front row to where you are standing. A wedding party with 12 people in it, including a ring bearer and flower girl needs a minimum of 16 to 18 feet of un-obstructed space. Adequate space equals comfort, which in turn equals less stress making for a better day.
